We found Allied Powder Coating online and had a salesman come to our home during the first week of May 2024. We shared there would be two important functions occurring at our home on July 12 and July 21, 2024. We advised Allied that if our outdoor furniture could not completed before these functions, we would prefer to wait. There were a total of eleven pieces.
Allied assured us that our furniture would be completed and returned within four to six weeks, and undoubtedly before the end of June 2024. Based on Allied’s commitment, we proceeded and our furniture was picked up on May 14, 2024.
In early June 2024, my wife called Allied to check on the process and learned that the color we had selected was on back-order. Knowing the importance of our timing, we were surprised no one at Allied had called or emailed us about this issue. During the call, we selected another color that was in stock and Allied further assured us the furniture would completed in time for the first event at our home. This verbal exchange was then confirmed in writing, via email, with Allied that noted the change in color.
As the first event at our home approached, we called and left numerous messages with Allied, but none of our calls were returned. July 12th came and went, without any response from Allied. We continued to call and we finally reached an Allied rep on July 15, 2024. This rep looked up the status of our furniture and once again stated the original color we had selected was on back-order. We shared that we had previously confirmed an alternate color in mid-June 2024, but Allied had no record of the change. This rep suggested we speak with the Allied Project Manager and shared his number.
We spoke with the Allied PM and shared our disappointment with the lack of communication and customer service. We shared Allied had missed an important date, but the next event at our home on July 21, 2024 would include more than 100 guests. The PM assured us our furniture would be complete and redelivered prior to July 21, 2024.
On July 18, 2024, I received a call from Allied delivery coordinator who indicated our furniture was complete and would be redelivered to our home on Tuesday, July 23, 2024…this would be two days after the large event at our home. I shared with the rep all of the chaos we had experienced and he agreed to redeliver the furniture on Saturday, July 20, 2024. I thanked him for his willingness to “save the day”.
Then, just like the previous function at our home, July 20th and 21st came and went. We called and texted the Allied rep throughout the day before our event, but there was no response. On July 21st, we had the large event at our home to celebrate the engagement of our youngest son. Over 100 family and friends attended, and we used makeshift folding tables and chairs we borrowed from neighbors.
The following day, July 22, 2024, another Allied rep called to share our furniture is scheduled to be redelivered on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. In as peaceful of a manner as I could muster, I shared all of the failures on the part of Allied and the complete lack of communication. The Allied rep gave a lukewarm apology and reconfirmed our furniture would be redelivered on July 22.
In the end, it took over ten weeks to return our furniture. In all fairness, the quality of the work is very good. It is a shame the lack of communication and customer service, and failure to deliver on multiple promises, has overshadowed the quality of the powder coating.
